Exitement is building as we finalize plans for the WRJ Central District Convention.  We are delighted to welcome both Rabbi Marla Feldman, Executive Director of WRJ, and Pat Blum, WRJ Secretary, as our guest speakers.  The weekend will feature a variety of sessions that will help us increase the success of our sisterhoods as well as outstanding opportunities for learning, worship, networking,

Our opening speaker will be Maggie Anton, award-winning author of the Rashi's Daughters series. These historical novels are set in the household of the great medieval Jewish scholar, whose daughters studied Talmud when these sacred texts were forbidden to women. On Saturday evening, Sally Fingerett will perform for us. Sally is one of the founding members of the internationally known group, The Four Bitchin' Babes. includes all programming activities, lunches and dinners.  

 

Early Bird Registration is $150.00

After Oct 1, registration is $160. 

WRJ Central is subsidizing the cost for each registrant to keep the convention affordable.

 

The convention is to be held at The Columbus Airport Embassy Suites and Temple Israel, Columbus OH.

Hotel Accommodations
We have a block of rooms reserved for $129.00 plus tax per night, which includes breakfast each morning and complimentary Happy Hour.

 

Please contact the hotel directly (614-536-0500) and identify yourself as attending the Women of Reform Judaism Convention when making reservations. This will ensure the special rate of $129.00 plus tax per night per room. 
Hotel reservations must be made BEFORE

New this Year: Convention Tribute Book and Program

This year we are providing an opportunity to thank our sisterhood leadership for the work they have done and will do for us all by creating an ad for this beautiful book, which will be distributed at the convention. This is a great way to honor our sisterhood leaders, and especially those women who have led the Central District for the last two years and those who are ready to take over for the next two. Ads can also be written to brag about your own sisterhood, thank and/or recognize your sisterhood board and officers, send a shout-out to your Deborah Award honoree, promote your business, etc...

 

  
We encourage you to promote this effort through communication with your sisterhood board, temple board and rabbis, family and friends of our Central District WRJ Board or your local sisterhoods, and businesses in your area.  

 

  

  

Download the form, print it out and/or email it on to anyone who has been impacted by your sisterhood's support or might find our membership the perfect audience for an ad.  The help you give us in this effort will come back to benefit you through additional subsidies of future Biennial Conventions.

Yes Fund Auction - We Need Your Sisterhood!

One of the highlights of the the convention will be a lively auction of Gift Baskets to raise money for WRJ's YES Fund (Youth, Education and Special Projects). The Board is asking that each sisterhood create a basket that will inspire others to contribute to the YES Fund.


 

When planning your basket, please keep in mind that the bidding will start at $36.00. Some suggestions are: Wine and Cheese Basket, Movie and Game Night Basket, Baby Basket, Yoga Basket - the combinations are endless! Your sisterhood can be as creative as you wish. Individuals are also welcome and encouraged to participate by creating a basket for the auction. We can't wait to see what you come up with!


 

So please, at your next meeting, if not before, designate someone in your sisterhood who will be responsible for creating this YES basket. Please let Marci Delson, our YES Fund Chair, know who is going to be working on this and how she can get in touch with her/them. In addition, please indicate a description and approximate retail value of the basket.  Marci's email is marcildelson@gmail.com.

Don't delay! October will be here before we know it. Please take the time today to:

  • Forward this email to your sisterhood membership.
  • Download your registration form and send it in.
  • Reserve your hotel room(s) if necessary.
  • Spread the word about the tribute book and program.
  • Send in your ad and form to Hillary Handwerger to be part of the tribute book.
  • Start planning your sisterhood's auction basket and send contact information to Marci Delson.
  • Prepare for a meaningful and memorable weekend!
